Sidney Bernstein was not primarily an actor but a film producer and founder of Granada Television. He was responsible for the creation of popular TV shows during the 1960s and 1970s such as 'World in Action', 'Brideshead Revisited' and 'Coronation Street'. He was appointed as the first chairperson of the British Film Institute.
