Ruby Elzy was an American operatic soprano and actress, known for her roles in the Broadway productions of Porgy and Bess and Rose-Marie. She also appeared in several films, including Hallelujah! and Emperor Jones. Elzy was one of the first African-American women to perform at the Metropolitan Opera. She died in 1943 at the age of 35.
