Poly Styrene (1957-2011) was a British musician, best known as the frontwoman of the punk rock band X-Ray Spex. She was known for her unconventional fashion sense, powerful vocals, and provocative lyrics which confronted issues of consumerism, gender roles and racism. Styrene's influence on the punk rock movement and alternative music continues to be felt today.
