Mario Monicelli was an Italian film director and screenwriter, known for his work in the commedia all'italiana genre. He directed over 60 films, including Big Deal on Madonna Street, The Great War, and Amici miei. Monicelli was considered one of the fathers of Italian cinema and passed away in 2010.
