Louis Wolheim was an American actor best known for his portrayal of tough, rough-hewn characters in silent and sound films of the 1920s and 1930s. He appeared in more than 100 films, including the critically acclaimed All Quiet on the Western Front. Wolheim's career was cut short by his death in 1931 at the age of 50.
