Lew Ayres was an American actor known for his roles in films such as "All Quiet on the Western Front" (1930) and "Holiday" (1938). He also starred in the "Dr. Kildare" film series in the 1930s and 40s. Ayres was a conscientious objector during World War II and his career suffered as a result, but he later made a comeback in television and continued acting until his death in 1996.
