Kurt Gerron was a German-Jewish film and stage actor, director, and cabaret performer. He is best known for his roles in the German silent film era and for his performance as the nightclub owner in the 1931 musical film The Blue Angel. During World War II, he was imprisoned in a concentration camp and forced to make a Nazi propaganda film before being killed in Auschwitz.
