Joel Palmer (1810-1881) was an American pioneer, politician, and Indian superintendent. He played a significant role in negotiating treaties with native tribes in Oregon and was an advocate for their rights. Palmer also served as a member of the Oregon Legislative Assembly and was instrumental in the establishment of numerous towns and universities in the region.
