Jiří Menzel was a Czech film director, actor, and screenwriter known for his works in the Czech New Wave movement of the 1960s. He won an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1969 for his film "Closely Watched Trains". Menzel passed away on September 5, 2020.
