James Hetfield is the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and songwriter for the heavy metal band Metallica. Born in California in 1963, he co-founded Metallica in 1981 and has been a driving force behind the band's success, helping them become one of the most influential and commercially successful metal bands of all time. In addition to his work with Metallica, Hetfield has also pursued solo projects and appeared in a number of films and TV shows.
