Ian Bannen (1928-1999) was a Scottish actor known for his roles in films such as "The Flight of the Phoenix", "Gandhi", and "Braveheart". He received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in "The Flight of the Phoenix". Bannen also had a successful career in theater, winning a Tony Award for his role in the play "An Enemy of the People".
