Howard Rollins was an American actor known for his role in the television drama series "In the Heat of the Night" and for his portrayal of famous figures such as Coalhouse Walker Jr. in the movie "Ragtime" and Malcolm X in the television movie "The Children of Times Square." He struggled with drug addiction and died in 1996 at the age of 46.
