Émile Reynaud was a French inventor and animation pioneer who is best known for creating the praxinoscope, a device that allowed for the projection of moving images. He also created the first animated film, Pauvre Pierrot, which he projected using his praxinoscope theater, the Théâtre Optique. Reynaud's work paved the way for future animation innovations.
