Ed Asner is an American actor, voice-over artist, and a former president of the Screen Actors Guild. He is best known for his role as Lou Grant on both The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spin-off series, Lou Grant. Asner's career has spanned over seven decades, and he has won numerous awards, including seven Primetime Emmy Awards.
