Alan Alda is an American actor, director, writer, and comedian. He is best known for his role as Hawkeye Pierce in the television series M*A*S*H, for which he won five Emmy Awards. He has also appeared in numerous films and television shows and has authored several books. Alda is also a science communicator and has hosted the PBS series Scientific American Frontiers.
